Crowdfunding (participative fundraising system) consists in collecting funds from a crowd of contributors in order to partially or totally finance projects proposed by individuals or organizations. This new form of open funding is now raising interest among local authorities, which consider it as an alternative to finance their projects whilst involving citizens in the development of their local policy. The concept of crowdfunding has now been clearly defined, but very little research has been conducted on civic crowdfunding. Through the study of a dedicated platform, the objective of this article is to analyze the mechanisms of civic crowdfunding and identify its characteristics. This survey has helped determine the motivations for local authorities to resort to crowdfund- ing and demonstrate that this new tool is both a means of communication and of greater proximity with citizens.

Consumer behavior research often adopts an individual approach, neglecting the dynamics of the decision-making process regarding financial management within the couple. This aspect is central in explaining family consumption decisions. To date, only a few studies have examined this issue, especially in the French context. In this article, a literature review in consumer behavior integrating a multidisciplinary perspective allows to identify the different facets of the subject and to better understand the current state of knowledge on financial management within the couple. Our analytical work brings to light promising research perspectives and highlights the contributions of future work on this topic, to better support couples during the different stages of their life cycle.

Social resources and set of standards in the butane gas sector in the department of Korhogo (Ivory Coast)

By Yao Adoman Francis KOUADIO,
Ph.D. student in sociology, University Felix Houphouët Boigny in Abidjan, Côte d ’ Ivoire

This paper questions in terms of social issues the double normative regulation of the butane gas sector in the department of Korhogo, in Côte d’Ivoire, through the mobilization by actors of differentiated social resources. It draws on the sociology of social resources developed by Lin and maintains that these against a background of instrumental interests are participating in the dosage of implicit and explicit codes administered in the space of butane gas. From the testing of theoretical presuppositions by semi-structured interviews, we note that the clandestine installation of gas depots, the non-payment of taxes and fixed taxes proceed from rationalities, socio-economic issues and career positioning of the categories of actors who, to do this, instrumentalize their networks of contacts and use various tactics.

Managing religious facts at work: The role of a think tank to share and deploy management tools

French companies face with increasing religious demands. To answer this sensitive subject of Human Resources Management, they are questioning how to design tools for managing these religious demands. This article answers this question by using the main concepts of the literature, which, in France, since the 1980s, have been developed on the design of management tools. This article analyzes data collected through a think tank. This methodology appeared essential to collect data from a large number of companies (26), on this subject of which French companies are still very much reluctant to speak publicly. Applied to these data, these concepts allow identifying the specificities of the process of designing religious fact management tools in these companies. They are introduced gradually and carefully, managers have been trained previously and they are strongly supported by Top Management. These results develop knowledge on the specificities of the design of tools to manage religious demands in French companies.

IN QUEST OF A THEORY

Theory-making as a ranking of concepts: Principles and applications in the managerial sciences

By Matthieu Mandard ,
Rennes 1 University (CREM-UMR CNRS 6211)

What does theory-making mean? While the scientific literature has paid considerable attention to research methods, it has had very little to say about the making of the theories drawn from these methods. Studies in the managerial sciences are used to shed light on this topic and show that the production of a theory is an operation of ranking concepts insofar as the various forms of reasoning involve various operations for ranking concepts.
